Ramadan in Dubai

Some people assume that Dubai might be boring in Ramadan because most of the fun cannot be done at daytime. But that is absolutely not the case. Dubai is as exciting in Ramadan as any other month of the year, but certainly there are some dos and don'ts in Ramadan.

DOS
Dubai does not completely stop in Ramadan. There are many visitors who enjoy more in Ramadan than any other month. Transport operates as normal. Alcohol is not banned during this month.

Some interesting things you can do is visit some special places like the Jumeirah Mosque, where guides make you understand the beauty of this month and the importance of prayer.
Visit a hotel which serves a special Iftar. There are hotels and restaurants which serve traditional emirate and arabian foods like slow cooked lamb and rice. Dates are very popular this time. Beachside hotels like Atlantis and Jumeirah beach hotel often erect tents and that is such an amazing experience that you should never miss.

DONTS
The dress codes get stricter during this month. Women have to be covered, their shoulders should not show and their dresses should be knee length.
You can't eat, drink, smoke or even chew gum during the fasting hours. If you do, you can be sent to jail. Restaurants are shut during daytime. Bars will not open before 8 pm, and when they do, they wont play loud music.

So, being in Dubai is fun even at this time of the year, when the business days are shorter and the nights are quieter.
